Character's Background/History: A third-generation American, Vyslav's family nonetheless held onto at least enough tradition to give him a hame befitting his heiritage. Growing up in the odd cultural mix dominated by German and Hmong cultures in western Wisconsin, he quickly learned the value of cultivating allies in disparate groups, playing rivals and enemies off against one another, and redirecting blame. He left his hometown to attend Gotham University, majoring in psychology and minoring in law--a counterintuitive combination, but one that suited his intentions. His electives were a polyglot of seemingly unrelated courses; creative writing, a forensic chem lab, acting, and no few courses in business management. He also studied something else during his time in Gotham; superheroes. He followed the news closely, learning from the mistakes of supervillains and mobsters alike. Leaving college and Gotham, he made his way to Keystone City, travel capital of the United States, and made his fortune--ostensibly as a shipping entrepeneur.

Character's Personality: Vyslav is an artful manipulator, a highly intelligent and charismatic individual, very pleasant and likable. Though laws give him little pause, if any, he insists on impeccable manners, in his underlings, his business partners, and himself. It is this quirk that has earned him the underworld moniker of "the Gentleman." He never fails to dress well, as reflects his wealth and refinement, and with his charm he has managed to ingratiate himself even to the normally closed ranks of Keystone City's "old money" crowd. He rarely, if ever, does the "dirty work" of his illegal operations himself, and carefully structures his schemes to ensure they cannot be traced back to him. Though his public face is charming, witty, and urbane, in truth he is meticulous, calculating, and practices deceit with a care that nearly makes it art. Finally, unlike some others, he does not bend his efforts toward crafting "perfect" schemes, which "cannot fail." Rather, his successes come from the way he finds some way to benefit from each of his endeavors, however they turn out.

Appearance: Vyslav is possessed of the blue eyes and black hair typical of his Russian heiratige, and of the handsome, boyish face that isn't. Thoroughly American in voice and manner, he wears fine dark suits, usually with a red silk shirt beneath, and his hair fashionably unruly.
